Census & Parish Record Transcriptions

We’ve transcribed the census records for Hough on the Hill Parish for 1841-1911 and are working through the Parish records.  This has taken many hours work and countless bottles of wine so, although you’re welcome to view the files, save/edit are disabled.  However, we’re keen to swap information about local history, so if anyone wants any more data please contact us.

We are researching various families in the area.  Where we’ve written these up you can see the results by following links to the surnames in the table below.  We’ve started with Hough parish, but have followed the families to/from other villages in the area.  We have other information which we can share if you’re interested and we’re always looking for more pictures and stories. We won’t normally publish anything about recent history without checking with the family.  Starting with Brandon, we’ve been trying to connect families with specific houses.  There is also an index of specific Military Connections, for (so far) the parishes of Hough and Carlton Scroop.
