Hunt & Mackears families

George Alfred Hunt (known as Alf), was the blacksmith in Hough from a least 1901 to 1924.  He was born in Caythorpe in 1858 where his father, George Roadley Hunt, was blacksmith and in 1889  married Harriet Mackears. She was also born in Caythorpe (abt 1857), daughter of Samuel, who was a mason, and Ann. George retired in 1924 and he and Harriet moved to Carlton Scroop.

They had one daughter, Katherine Hunt born 1890.

George Alfred Hunt’s brother Harry was the blacksmith in Caythorpe.  His daughter Florence Emily Hunt was born in Caythorpe in 1880 and married Henry Squires, known as Harry, of Gelston Grange.
